This Bike is Going Places

Blue Bike 003

New York, Milan, Paris, Tokyo, Sea-Tac, MPLS: This bike is going places.

For those of you who haven’t seen them before, that stainless steel part in the picture is an S&S Coupler. It lets you break the bike in half, so that you can throw it in a suitcase and avoid those jillion fees for traveling with your bike.

Thanks to Mike DeSalvo for helping us cut a perfectly good frame in half.

    Brilliant much?
    Damn.

  2. Thanks SnarkyPants! I wish we could take credit for the idea, but the gang at S&S developed the coupler and it is really pretty slick. The process for adding them is a little tricky the first time around:

    1) Build bike frame.
    2) Cut in half.
    3) Add coupler.

You can see how it is done here

  3. Re the S&S coupler…absolutely bloody brilliant. Hope to heck they’ve got a patent pending on this thing. It’s a flaming work of art.
