WWYCD?

“If you want to understand the entrepreneur, study the juvenile delinquent. Cause, you know, they’re saying ‘This sucks, and I am going to do it my own way.’”

Yvon Chouinard

So those of you who have been reading our blog for a while probably think we go around with bracelets that say “WWYCD?” The truth is probably not too far from that. I mean we build stuff. It is as green as we can make it, but it is still kind of dirty. Paint don’t grow on trees, steel doesn’t weld itself; and we need to figure out what that means and the best way to do it.

This video is one example of where we get our inspiration.

Warning: Best viewed if you have an hour to spare. Also contains references to theft, the mafia, and sticking it to the man.

I see and say hello to both of you often, and have never introduced myself. Today, I noticed these two sweetpea bikes outside the Ecotrust building and when I saw you, I instantly knew they were yours. I was happily surprised to learn you build these fine bikes!
Tonight, I still had your bikes on my mind and so I go about googling the name, and find this great site too. I am very inspired by how you hold YC in such high regard. I have been working for Patagoina for a couple of years now and have sold the product in various stores for much longer, and I can truly say that the company truly is all its cracked up to be. Do we do everything perfectly? Certainly not, but damn if we’re not trying. I am inspired every day that I come to work, and I can tell you that there are many, many people witin our company who would be very inspired by what you are doing. So unofficially, it’s nice to meet you, my name is Mike and we really appreciate your patronizing our brand and phiosophy. I look forward to seeing you around.
