The A-Line™

PERFORMANCE MEETS STYLE.

A step-through suggests carefree pedaling in skirts under a sunshiny sky where birds are constantly chirping your favorite song. While most step-through bikes evoke these fond feelings and associations, they typically bring you right back to reality when you need to huff up a hill or rush to your next appointment. Traditionally, these bikes have been heavy and slow.

The A-Line is different. Clocking in at just 22 pounds, and equipped with a modern component group, it is ready for both a slow picnic in the park to a fast haul into work.

Design Process

Like the design process behind the Little Black Dress, we looked at where real women ended up for their most comfortable riding positions. And while crunching the numbers, we discovered that there were areas where women tended to cluster. These clusters were the starting point for three base sizes: S, M, L.

The A-Line takes that staring point and is designed to fit like a more upright version of a road bike, allowing you to make the most of an efficient position, but keeping your view to the scenery, not just the road whizzing beneath you.

In acknowledgment that your daily rides may require you to travel further and faster than conventional step-throughs allow, we’ve teamed an efficient geometry with modern road components. You don’t need to dress in spandex to take advantage of a crisp and lightweight drivetrain. Still, we suspect that even those of you who don’t identify as the “athlete” kind of rider will find themselves flying past some who do.

That’s why this bike comes with a bell. Ding, ding!

HOW CAN I GET ONE?

Starting with a custom fit (we’d love to fit you here in Portland), we’ll get to know you and your riding style. Natalie will take your fitting information and interview and translate that poetry into a frame design. You’ll review your design, pick your color, and start counting down the days (let’s say about 6 months).

Place your order with the friendly folks at Gladys Bikes.

OH IF WE JUST HAD TO CHOOSE

The A-Line pairs well with either Honjo or Velo Orange fenders. Would look lovely with a Gamoh front rack and a Portland Design Works rear Payload rack. Perhaps some Queen Bee panniers?
